These images refer to Kennedy's visit to the American College of Gianicolo, where JFK, accompanied by his sister, he went immediately after leaving St. Peter's Square. 'At college he was received by the archbishop of Boston, Cardinal Cushing, who has long and affectionately embraced. After the presentations (there were the dean of the College of Mons. O'Connor and Secretary of the Department of State Dean Rusk), the cardinal delivered a short speech describing the gifts that John XXIII had reserved the right to deliver to Kennedy during his visit and that after the death of the Pope were held by the substitute of the Vatican Secretariat of State Mgr. Dell'Acqua, The gifts consist of one of three autographed copies the world's encyclical Pacem in Terris, bound in white leather and some gold, silver and bronze medals minted to commemorate the spread of the Encyclical Mater et Magistra and delivery of the Balzan Prize for Peace with John XXIII.
